Founded in 1949, the Turkish-French Cultural Association is an esteemed institution aimed at strengthening cultural and social ties between the Turkish and French peoples. The purpose of this association is to develop cultural and social relations based on historical friendship between the two countries and to pass them on to future generations.

This association has aimed to promote and sustain the French language and culture in Turkey throughout its 75-year history. French is known as the language of love and romance. It is as melodic as music and deserves its rightful place among the world's languages. Today, this association, located in the heart of Istanbul, successfully continues its mission to promote the French language and culture.

Following World War II, this association was established to foster closer cultural and social ties between the two countries and has been honoring the efforts of all its members since 1949 with respect and gratitude.

The establishment of the Turkish-French Cultural Association was decided upon by distinguished French and Turkish individuals. Among these esteemed founders were generals, ordinary professors, embassy advisors, bank general managers, and insurance general managers from the French side, and two prime ministers, three ministers, the speaker of the assembly, members of parliament, ambassadors, and many other valuable Turkish citizens. The Honorary Founder and Permanent President of this association, Reşit Saffet Atabinen, was the person who took the first step to establish the association on December 28, 1949.
